A tire on a rim can weigh over 20 kg, and a set of four takes up a fair bit of floor space. Many condo buildings don't allow them on balconies, and getting them into a sedan trunk twice a year is a chore.
With storage, the off-season set stays with us. At each changeover we take one set off, put the other on and store the set that came off. You drive in on one set and out on the other.
Before a set goes into storage we note its tread depth and any damage. If it won't make it through another season, you hear about it when it comes off, not on the first snowy morning.
Why it matters
Tires age better stored properly
Sunlight, heat and the ozone from electric motors break rubber down. A sunny garage or a spot next to the furnace ages tires faster. We keep stored sets out of the sun and weather.
Nothing to haul
You don't load tires into the car or clean slush out of the trunk afterwards. Come in, swap and leave.
Checked at every swap
Each time a set comes in or goes out, we look at the tread, sidewalls and rims. Problems show up months before you need the tires.
Signs it's time
- Tires stacked on a balcony, in a hallway or a storage locker
- No garage, or a garage too full to use
- Your trunk can't fit four tires
- You'd rather not lift 20 kg tires twice a year
What's included
- Tires or wheels tagged with your name and plate
- Set logged against your vehicle in our system
- Tread depth and condition noted at drop-off
- Stored out of the sun and weather
